Nancy Hicks-Gribble is Dale's wife, Joseph's mother, and weather-girl-turned-anchor for local news station Channel 84. She had a fourteen-year affair with John Redcorn, which produced her son, Joseph, although she eventually broke off the affair and became a more faithful wife to Dale. She frequently addresses other characters as "sug," which is short for "sugar." Her mother, Bunny Hicks, was similarly unfaithful to Nancy's father, but did not reveal her own long-term affair until Nancy began suffering from stress-induced hair loss over her unresolved feelings for John Redcorn. Nancy is a former beauty queen, a fact which helped her get her job as a news anchor, and thus takes great interest in maintaining a youthful appearance. She is also shown to have a fierce competitive streak on occasion, which manifests itself by eliminating her competition.
