Bert was an employee at Stik Tek in the episode "The Exterminator" who had been working there for 19 years. Back in the 1980s, he was married to Amy Pitman. Dale was the only person at the company who had no personal attachment to him, so Pitman asked him to fire him, as it was difficult for everyone else. Going to Pitman's office, Bert was confused to see Dale, clarifying that he was thought that Pitman summoned him. He also asked if Dale was the receptionist, prompting the latter to respond that he was only the receptionist when Judy was eating lunch. Hearing Dale declare that he was going to fire him if he did not give a reason to keep his job in 30 seconds, Bert became nervous and attempted to give a reason, but Dale fired him immediately. As he was shocked, Pitman came by and said that she was sorry to hear the news, and he left the room crying.
