Bodhi

Bodhi was a theme park employee, artificial wave surfer, and the main antagonist in "Four Wave Intersection". He is an adolescent bully who, despite working at a family-friendly theme park, relishes in disallowing minors to play on the park's infamous giant artificial wave ride. The character uses ageist rhetoric and particularly enjoys picking on children.

Personality[]

Bodhi is a young adult man employed at Big Water, a large German-owned aquatic theme park in Texas; despite apparently only knowing how to surf on artificially-constructed water park waves, he pretends to be a stereotypical surfer dude and is seen hitting on hipster women while bragging about all the "waves" he's conquered, all of which happen to be different artificial waves at theme parks. When Bobby, Connie and Joseph receive summer passes for the theme park, hoping especially to enjoy the park's infamous "The Big Ka-Tube-Ah" wave at the lone wave pool during an unprecedented bout of hot weather in Arlen, Bodhi taunts and bullies the three kids and tells them that the artificial wave is for "locals only" (which Hank later remarks is a stupid expression because "nobody lives in an amusement park").

Bodhi is considerably older than Bobby, Connie and Joseph but is much more immature and, when provoked during a visit from the theme park's manager, he and his friends strip Bobby naked and throw him down The Avalanche, an extremely tall and scary waterslide at the park. Bodhi also mocks Kahn for wearing a homemade half-shirt, and makes insulting remarks at Boomhauer about him being middle-aged. Boomhauer at first takes this as a sign of defeat, leaving Bobby, Connie and Joseph unable to attend the park as they feel threatened by Bodhi.

Bodhi is eventually defeated when Boomhauer perfects his old surfing routines and spanks Bodhi with a surfboard, forcing him down the wave and allowing little kids into the area to enjoy the space. The last appearance of Bodhi shows him appearing to do some self-reflection, driving sadly down the highway with his collection of surfboards until he spots Bill Dauterieve waving at him at the side of the grass; this act of kindness causes Bodhi to smile placidly.

The character only appears once in the episode "Four Wave Intersection". Like most of Bobby's bullies and tormentors, he is portrayed as very pompous, stubborn but ultimately insecure and childish. His other companions are three men his age who are also bullies, as well as Tim, the park's cheerful but negligent and incompetent manager.
